(older 3's)

Welcome to the Roadrunners Class!

This preschool class is designed for children whose 4th birthday falls between January 1 and June 1.

The experience is divided into thematic units (ex. dinosaurs, all about me, shapes and colors) and by utilizing “center activities such as math, language, science, puzzles, books, play and art, we provide an environment that allows the students to choose an area of interest that best engages them.  Choosing is an important part of the early developmental decision making process.  Our comprehensive curriculum teaches the 38 early childhood goals from Gold Standard, and each goal is divided into a learning domain. In addition, Garner’s Multiple Intelligences, Creative Curriculum and Handwriting without Tears are used as well.

Outdoor play and imaginary play in the classroom are another important part of our day providing opportunities for our Roadrunners to learn about self-control, problem-solving and positive decision-making. Their language use further develops by communicating with their peers, and coming together for class story time, where fundamental literary concepts are introduced. Reading aloud helps with rhyming and encourages your child to create positive associations with books and reading.

All these various activities work in unison to not only build your child’s academic and social skills, but to provide the most fun and caring preschool experience for them. Conferences are offered twice a year, but questions and concerns, and open dialogue are encouraged throughout the year.

Meet our Teachers

Ms. Heather

Ms. Heather was born in Ontario, Canada and lived there before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2008.She knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was five years old! In my teenage years I worked at summer camps and in my church’s children’s programs. I completed my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and my Bachelor of Teacher Education from the Universityof London, Ontario.

Upon completion of my studies, I began my teaching career at a private Christian school where I taught elementary students. In the subsequent eight years I taught at various levels of elementary school, in both regular and special education programs. I was raised in a Christian home and received Christ as my Savior at the age of nine. I love Jesus and have been involved in various ministries during my adult life including church summer camp ministry, hospitality, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Awana, Moms in Prayer Ministry and women’s Bible studies.

I was a room mom for many years, active PTO member and president, and Girl Scout Troop Leader. I have two precious daughters, aged 13 and 11. In my spare time I love traveling, photography, playing tennis, and making memories with my children. I am the author of “The Good Bye Kiss.” I am thrilled to be working at New Covenant and am so happy to be a teacher in Roadrunners Class!

Ms. Sara

Ms. Sara started at New Covenant as a Teacher’s Aide in 2018. She is excited to be learning and growing with this team of women and along-side your children! Ms. Sara is a mother of two (almost 3!), 2 of her children will be attending New Covenant next school year. When Ms. Sara is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family, whether that be traveling, bowling, or just enjoying a nice night in. She was born and raised in Michigan but now Arizona is her home. She and her family love going back to visit her parents often.  She is looking forward to this year and the many to follow, which will be filled with fun learning opportunities to help guide your children’s growth.
