Commitment Sunday

Dear New Covenant Members & Friends in Christ,

As we begin this new season of faith and gratitude, we are writing to you regarding the stewardship campaign at New Covenant Lutheran Church.

First and foremost, we want to express our deepest appreciation for your continued support and dedication to our church community. Your generosity and commitment have allowed us to carry out our mission of making Jesus Christ the heart of every home, as well as to serve our congregation and others with love and compassion.

With November comes Thanksgiving. When we reflect on all that we are thankful for within our community here at New Covenant, we need to look no further than the letters written by Paul in the New Testament, to find shared experiences and inspiration. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Paul’s letters to the first believers in Christ contained words of instruction, admonishment, and praise. The earliest churches faced many challenges. Yet, his letters always contained words of thanksgiving. Despite tremendous hardships and turmoil, Paul found it easy to be thankful.

Similar to last year, we are asking for two pledges on your commitment card: one for the general fund and another for the building fund. The general fund supports the day-to-day operations of our church, while the building fund helps cover our mortgage, maintenance expenses and other essential needs such as landscaping and equipment repairs. Every pledge, regardless of its size, plays a vital role in sustaining our church’s mission and ensuring its continued growth.

Prayerfully consider your financial support of New Covenant. We kindly ask you to complete and return your commitment card to the church in person, by mail or online by November 19 for Commitment Sunday. Look around at all the Good News. We face trials and tribulations too; yet, just as Paul, we also find so much to be thankful for.  Your commitment and support are invaluable to our church and we are grateful for your partnership in furthering God’s work and sharing His love.

We close this letter with the words Paul wrote to Philemon (1:4-7). “I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”

Peace be with you!
