The top countries that LSS-SW receives refugees from are: Iraq, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Syria, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Myanmar/Burma, Rwanda, Burundi and Eritrea. For more information on how LSS-SW helps refugees, go to LSS-SW Refugee and Immigration Services.

You can drop off the new towels and/or new queen-size sheets at the church office during the week or in the church before or after the Sunday Service.

You can make monetary donations online by clicking the Donate Now button below and donating to the Monthly Mission fund or mail your check to the church office – 15152 N. Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (indicate on check or envelope LSS-SW Refugees).

Lutheran World Relief – Beirut Blast
On August 4, 2020, a warehouse at a port in Beirut, Lebanon exploded taking many lives and destroying entire portions of the city.

Before the explosion, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) had been working in Lebanon reaching out to poor Lebanese families and large populations of Syrian and Palestinian refugees to overcome the challenges of the country’s ongoing economic crisis.

Unfortunately, the blast destroyed three of LWR’s 40-foot shipping containers, which were stored in the port and held more than 22,000 LWR Mission Quilts, 100 cartons of School Kits, 300 cartons of Personal Care Kits and 125 cartons of Baby Care Kits that were being prepared for distribution to an estimated 24,550 men, women and children who were already in great need. The quilts and kits in these container are given to LWR by Lutheran churches through out the United States.

In September, New Covenant Lutheran church will be collecting monetary donations to help replace the quilts and kits that were lost and to help the people of Beirut, Lebanon.

*Information taken from LWR website

Update: Thank you for donating $640 to help those in Beirut, Lebanon impacted by the explosion.
